Calpe (Calp) is a Marina Alta resort defined by the Penon de Ifach, a 332-metre limestone rock rising straight from the sea as a protected natural park. Around it spread sandy beaches, a working fishing port with its evening fish auction, and the remains of the Banys de la Reina, a Roman-era coastal site. The old town sits a little inland, below the headland.
