The city and its shore
L’Alacantí is the comarca built around Alicante itself. The Santa Bárbara castle on Mount Benacantil looks down on the Postiguet beach and the old town; the tram runs north along the shore to El Campello and beyond. Inland, Mutxamel and Sant Joan were the city’s market gardens before they became suburbs.
