Why visit the Gredas de Bolnuevo
The gredas are a cluster of pale yellow sandstone formations that wind and rain have sculpted over a very long time into rounded, mushroom-like shapes. They stand right beside a long sandy beach just south of Puerto de Mazarrón, so you can combine the unusual rock scenery with an easy day by the sea. They are free to visit and especially photogenic in the softer light of early morning or late afternoon.

Pale yellow sandstone, soft enough for wind and rain to sculpt over time.
Wind-eroded
Erosion has carved the rock into strange, rounded mushroom-like forms.
Long sandy beach
The formations stand right beside a long sandy beach south of Mazarrón.

- Getting there: just south of Puerto de Mazarrón in Murcia province; the nearest airport is Murcia–Corvera (RMU).

- Best time to visit: early morning or late afternoon, when the light on the sandstone is softest.
