Aquopolis Costa Daurada (La Pineda, Vila-seca)

Theme park

See it on the map ↓Costa Dorada guide

Aquopolis Costa Daurada is a summer water park on the seafront of La Pineda (Vila-seca), about 3 km east of Salou and 2.3 km from PortAventura World. It stands on the Passeig de Pau Casals, the beach promenade, with its own car park beside it and town bus stops within 300 m. Its operator calls it the largest water park in the province of Tarragona, 5 minutes from Salou and an hour from Barcelona. Expect slides graded from high-octane to children’s, wave and lagoon pools, minigolf and VIP chill-out areas. It suits families staying in La Pineda, Salou or Cambrils who want a water park day without going into the big resort next door. Skip it outside summer, and do not go for the dolphins: their pools are now marked as closed.

Access and parking

By car: La Pineda lies between Salou and Tarragona. The park is on the Passeig de Pau Casals, the long seafront road of La Pineda.

Parking: OpenStreetMap shows a surface car park named Aquopolis on the west side of the park, about 140 m from its centre, and a small free car park for 20 cars about 220 m to the south. We could not confirm whether the Aquopolis car park is free or how many spaces it has.

By bus: OpenStreetMap shows stops on the Camí del Racó (C. Camí del Racó V and VI) about 260 m west of the park, and stops on the Passeig de Pau Casals by the Restaurant Dorado, about 370 m away, one for each direction, towards Salou and towards Tarragona. We could not confirm which lines serve them or their timetables.

On foot: from the La Pineda hotels along the promenade, the park is a walk along the seafront. The promenade is 2.4 km long, says Wikipedia, and La Pineda’s beaches run for almost 4 km.

What to expect

The Catalan tourist board describes an enormous water park with a full range of services, and sorts its attractions into three groups: high-octane for thrill seekers, moderate for the whole family, and children’s areas for the youngest. On OpenStreetMap, mappers have named these slides and pools inside the park:

  • Slides: Kamikaze, Black Hole, Huracan, Speed Race (a multi-lane slide), Zig-Zag, Magic Oval, Splash 1 and 2, Vulcano River and the Tubos.
  • Play areas and smaller slides: Isla del Tesoro, Tortuga Aventura, Funny Jungle and the Mini Park.
  • Pools: Waves Beach, Waikiki Beach, Maui Lagoon and Maui Paradise.

These names come from the map, not from the park, so a ride may have changed or closed. We could not confirm which ride belongs to which group, or the height limits for any slide.

The tourist board lists bars and restaurants, a minigolf, a VIP zone with a chill-out area, a souvenir shop, and sun loungers and floats for hire. OpenStreetMap shows burger and pizza outlets inside the park (Waikiki Burger, Big Wave XXL, Maui Cafè, La Trattoria), the Aloha Cafè, the Restaurant Hawaii and three VIP areas (Aloha, Chill Out and Waves Beach – Maui).

About the dolphins: older tourist board pages present a dolphinarium with dolphin and Patagonian sea lion shows, and a 30-minute dolphin encounter for children aged 7 and over. On OpenStreetMap the dolphinarium and the sea lion pools are now tagged as closed (tancat). We could not confirm the current situation with the park, so do not plan a visit around the animals.

Prices and opening

We could not confirm prices or hours for this guide. Aquopolis sells tickets on its Costa Daurada site (costa-dorada.aquopolis.es), which could not be reached when we checked in November 2026. The group’s main site only says its parks open in the summer months. Check the park’s own site for the season, daily hours and ticket prices before you go, and compare the online price with the price at the gate.

For a comparison checked the same month: a 1-day ticket at Caribe Aquatic Park, the PortAventura World water park 2.6 km away, started at €33 for adults on the official site. Aquopolis is the one you can walk to from the La Pineda seafront.

Practical details

  • Hire: sun loungers and floats can be hired (tourist board).
  • Food: fast food, pizza and a café inside the park; many more restaurants line the Passeig de Pau Casals outside.
  • VIP zone: a separate chill-out area exists; we could not confirm what it costs or includes.
  • Bring: sun cream, a hat and a towel. We could not confirm the park’s rules on outside food, glass or swimwear.

Accessibility and safety

We could not confirm step-free routes, adapted changing rooms or which attractions disabled visitors can use; ask the park before you book. Height limits apply on slides at every water park, so check them at each ride. The park is open in the hottest months: plan shade breaks, especially with small children, and keep non-swimmers in the children’s zones.

Best time to visit

The park only opens in summer. We found no crowd figures for it; arriving at opening time gives you the longest day for the price and the best chance of a parking space beside the gate. If the summer heat is too much, a late afternoon on La Pineda beach, just across the promenade, costs nothing.
