Caribe Aquatic Park (PortAventura World, Salou)
Theme parkCaribe Aquatic Park is the water park of the PortAventura World resort at Salou, on the Costa Dorada, next to PortAventura Park and Ferrari Land. It opens in summer, and you reach it by car from the A-7 or by Rodalies train to the resort’s own stop on lines R17 and RT2. The park covers more than 50,000 m² with 16 attractions and pools, from King Khajuna, a 31 m free-fall slide, to a lazy river and shallow children’s areas. A new family zone, Coral Bay, adds Cyclone, which the park calls Europe’s only family water coaster. It suits families and groups who want a full summer day in the water. Skip it outside summer, or if you only want to swim: the beaches of Salou and La Pineda are free.

Access and parking
By car: leave the A-7 and follow the signs to PortAventura World.
Parking: on OpenStreetMap the resort’s large Port Aventura car park lies about 70 m from the water park. The resort says parking is charged at the usual rates, but we could not find the current price on its site. Its FAQ confirms you can leave the car park and come back on the same day: ask the admissions staff for a stamp and show it when you return. There is a separate car park for visitors with reduced mobility, nearest the entrance, and charging points for electric cars.
By train: the resort has its own stop on Rodalies de Catalunya lines R17 and RT2. The Salou-Port Aventura station is about 670 m from the water park in a straight line (OpenStreetMap). PortAventura World sells a “train day trip to Caribe Aquatic Park” package that includes the water park ticket and the return train from any Rodalies station.
By coach: the official ticket page also sells the water park ticket with a return coach from central Barcelona (getting here).
What to expect
A large, green water park with palm trees, waterfalls and reggae in the background. The official park page lists these attractions, among others:
- King Khajuna: a free-fall slide 31 m high with a 55° drop. From 1.40 m.
- Ciclón Tropical (from 1.40 m), El Tifón (from 1.20 m, up to 136 kg) and Rapid Race, a racing slide (from 1.20 m).
- El Torrente and Barracudas: tube rides, alone from 1 m, or with an adult below that.
- Mambo Limbo: twin slides, from 1.10 m.
- El Río Loco: a lazy river, no minimum height.
- El Triángulo de las Bermudas (a pool up to 1.80 m deep), Bahama Beach and Playa Paraíso for a calmer swim.
- For small children: Sésamo Beach with its pirate galleon and Sesame Street characters, La Laguna de Woody, Cayo Cookie, Junior Body Slides (1.00–1.50 m) and the Zona Indoor, a covered area with water games, a large pool, changing rooms and lockers.
Coral Bay is the park’s new family area. Cyclone is a water coaster: jets push a raft for two along the track. It needs a minimum height of 1.10 m with an adult, and the two riders must weigh between 60 and 180 kg together. Bahía Pirata is a water obstacle course; riders between 1.20 and 1.40 m must wear a life jacket, which the attraction lends. The Crab is a slide tower from 1 m, and Splash Port is a splash pad with small slides. Coral Bay is included in the normal ticket (Coral Bay FAQ).

Practical details

- Lockers: single and family lockers are available.

Accessibility and safety
PortAventura World says the pools have adapted access for people with reduced mobility. Visitors with a recognised disability of at least 33% can buy reduced tickets at the ticket booths or the Guest Service Office for Visitors with Special Needs, not online; companions pay full price. Height and weight limits apply on most slides, and a pool reaches 1.80 m deep, so keep non-swimmers in the children’s zones and the lazy river.
Best time to visit
Go on a weekday. The resort’s advice is that Tuesday to Thursday, outside bank holidays, is quietest, while weekends and the peak of summer are busiest, and French school holidays add visitors. Arrive at opening time to ride King Khajuna and Cyclone before the queues build. If you want both the slides and the rides, the “1 day, 2 parks” ticket lets you spend the hot hours in the water and the evening in PortAventura Park from 17:00.
