Cala de Finestrat
BeachLa Cala de Finestrat is a 270 m sandy cove just south-west of Benidorm, below the Tossal de la Cala, and the only beach of the municipality of Finestrat. It has fine golden sand, rocks at both ends that partly shelter it from the waves, lifeguards daily from 10:00 to 20:00 until 15 October (2026), and an open-air car park on the promenade. It suits families who want a small town beach with services; skip it if you want space in August, as it is small and busy.
Quick facts

- Where: between La Barreta and El Xoriguer (Sorigueret), at the south-west end of Benidorm’s bay; it belongs to Finestrat, not Benidorm.
- Coordinates: 38.52429, -0.16734.
- Size: about 270 m long (Comunitat Valenciana tourism and Finestrat tourism).
- Sand: fine, golden sand; an urban beach.
- Lifeguards (2026): daily 10:00–20:00 until 15 October.
- Awards: Bandera Qualitur 2026. No Blue Flag: Finestrat did not apply for it in 2024 or 2026.
Access and parking
By car: Finestrat’s tourist office lists an open-air car park on the La Cala promenade (Turismo Finestrat), and OpenStreetMap shows a free surface car park about 100 m west of the sand.
By bus: the stop «Av. Marina Baixa, 20 (Cala Finestrat)» is served by the Benidorm urban buses, including line 014 to Rincón de Loix (Avanza, line 014) and line 016. Check the timetable on the operator’s site.
On foot: the cove is at the south-west end of Poniente beach, past the Tossal de la Cala.
What to expect
A small urban beach with soft sand and clear water (Comunitat Valenciana tourism), framed by rocks that partly protect it from the waves (El Debate, 2026). It is backed by a promenade and tall apartment blocks, not by nature. The town has worked on the breakwater to stop the beach losing sand (Alicante Plaza, 2024).
Why no Blue Flag: in 2024 Finestrat did not put the beach forward for the Blue Flag because of maintenance works. In 2026 the town said it had not lost the flag but no longer applies, relying instead on ISO certificates and the Generalitat’s Bandera Qualitur (El Periòdic, May 2026).
Practical details
- Lifeguards: daily, 10:00–20:00, until 15 October 2026 (Radio Sirena).
- Facilities: a public toilet, footwashes and changing cabins, beach volleyball nets, and sunbeds, parasols and awnings for hire (Finestrat town hall).
- Food and drink: OpenStreetMap lists more than 25 cafés, bars and restaurants within 500 m of the beach.
- Cost: the beach is free; sunbeds and parasols are paid.
- Dogs: we found no official rule for dogs on this beach; ask the town hall or check the signs.
Accessibility and safety
The beach has access ramps (Turismo Finestrat) and, in 2025, an accessible bathing point at the eastern end, by the Plaça de l’Àmfora, with shade and wooden walkways. In 2026 staff help people with reduced mobility into the water daily from 10:00 to 20:00 (Radio Sirena). Swim within the lifeguard hours and follow the flag system; take care on the rocks at each end.
Best time to visit
Outside the peak of July and August, or early in the day. The cove is small and its occupancy is rated high (playas.es), so the sand fills quickly on summer afternoons. Lifeguards stay until mid-October, which makes late September and early October a good time for a swim.
