Marina de Dénia is the yacht marina on the south side of the port of Dénia, on the Carrer Escullera Sud next to the Real Club Náutico. Turisme Comunitat Valenciana, the regional tourist board, describes it as a favourite stop for international leisure boats and a winter home for many of them. If you do not have a boat, there is a waterfront strip of restaurants and bars, free toilets and a view of the castle across the water. The Baleària ferry terminal is 0.8 km away. It suits sailors who want a base on the north Costa Blanca and anyone looking for dinner by the boats. Skip it if you want a beach: you will not find one inside the port.

Quick facts

  • What: a leisure marina, one of several boat facilities in the port of Dénia. The Real Club Náutico de Dénia is its neighbour to the south-west.
  • Where: Carrer Escullera Sud, Dénia (Alicante), in the Marina Alta. The tourist board gives the address as Castell d’Olimbroi, s/n, 03700 Dénia.
  • Coordinates: 38.8393, 0.1204.
  • Berths: we could not reach the operator’s website to check its own berth figures, so we do not give a number here.
  • On site: sailing and diving schools, yacht charter, and boat sales and hire (Turisme Comunitat Valenciana). OpenStreetMap shows a travel lift, free public toilets and a row of restaurants and bars.
  • Contact: +34 966 424 307, mar@marinadedenia.com, according to the tourist board’s listing. The operator’s website is marinadedenia.com.
  • Entry for walkers: the waterfront is open to the public. We could not confirm opening hours for the marina office.

Access and parking

By car: the marina is reached on the Carrer Escullera Sud, which turns off the Carretera de Dénia a Xàbia, the coast road to Les Rotes, at the Real Club Náutico. It is 1.2 km in a straight line from Dénia Castle and the old town.

Parking: OpenStreetMap shows several surface car parks along the Carrer Escullera Sud. Some are marked private, which usually means they are for berth holders or customers. The nearest car parks marked free and public lie 300 m to the south-west. One belongs to the Real Club Náutico, and the other is next to the Carretera de Dénia a Xàbia. Five EV charging points (Type 2 and CCS) are mapped 160 m south of the pontoons.

By bus: the nearest stops on OpenStreetMap are La Guitarra and Farmacia, both on the Carretera de Dénia a Xàbia about 400 m away. Neither has a shelter. We could not confirm which lines stop there.

By sea: visiting crews should contact the marina before arriving. We could not check the VHF channel, the approach notes or whether a berth is free from the operator’s own pages.

What to expect

Turisme Comunitat Valenciana calls the marina “one of the favourite resting points for international recreational traffic”. It says many boats use their berths as a winter home while the crew stays on the Costa Blanca, and that the marina houses “a full range of services” (Turisme Comunitat Valenciana).

For a non-boater, the marina is a waterfront to walk, eat and drink on. OpenStreetMap lists about ten restaurants and bars along the quay and the Dársena de Babor, among them Republic, Zahara, Mala Vita, Agua de Mar, Basta!, Amore, The Cut and Zensa Marina. They range from seafood and Italian to Asian food and a steakhouse. These places change often, so check before you go. From the quay you look across the water to the castle on its hill, and the Montgó mountain rises behind the town.

The ferry terminal, for context: the Baleària terminal is on the Esplanada Cervantes, on the north side of the port, 0.8 km from the marina in a straight line. Baleària runs daily ferries from Dénia to Ibiza and the other Balearic Islands, and the company has its head office in the town (Wikipedia). The ferries do not leave from the marina. If you are catching one, go to the terminal.

Services for visiting boats

We could reach only the tourist board’s summary of the marina’s services, not the marina’s own list. Here is what that summary and the map confirm:

  • Sailing and diving schools, yacht charter, and boat sales and hire based at the marina (Turisme Comunitat Valenciana).
  • A travel lift (boat hoist) mapped on the south side of the marina (OpenStreetMap).
  • Free public toilets run by Marina de Dénia, marked wheelchair accessible (OpenStreetMap).
  • CCTV cameras operated by the marina along the Carrer Escullera Sud (OpenStreetMap).

For berth rates, fuel, water and electricity on the pontoons, showers, laundry and Wi-Fi, ask the marina directly. We have not printed prices or hours that we could not check with the operator.

Accessibility and safety

The quay seen in photos is paved and level. OpenStreetMap marks the marina’s public toilets and the free car park on the Carretera de Dénia a Xàbia as wheelchair accessible, but it shows no disabled bays in that car park. We could not confirm step-free access onto the pontoons, which are normally for berth holders only. Keep children away from the quay edges, and watch for boats being lifted and moved near the travel lift.

Best time to visit

Visit in the evening if you want to eat or drink here, when the castle is floodlit across the water. For sailors, the tourist board says many crews winter here, so the marina stays in use all year.
